Ingredients
Serves 12
- 12 slices Arla® Mozzarella, sliced

- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
- Peach jam, for serving
- 24 “eyes” made from white candy-coated sweets (or another type of confectionery – you can use melted chocolate and a toothpick to form the center)
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with baking paper. Set aside.
- Stack four slices of Mozzarella on top of each other and use a 5cm round cutter to cut out four circles.
- Remove the cheese circles and set aside. Repeat this two more times with the remaining cheese slices. You should end up with twelve circular stacks of cheese, with four slices in each stack. Set aside.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a 30 x 30cm square. Cut the pastry into twelve 7.5 x 7.5cm squares and one 7.5 x 30cm strip.
- Place one stack of cheese in the centre of each pastry square and fold the pastry over the cheese to create a small parcel. Seal the edges well. Place the parcels on the prepared baking sheet with the seam facing down.
- Take the remaining pastry strip and cut it horizontally in half. Cut each piece into six strips, 1.5cm wide. Wrap the strips around the cheese parcels to make them look like mummies, and brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15–17 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown. Then decorate with the candy “eyes”. Serve with peach jam.
